The Town of Pagosa Springs (TOPS) has a Town to Lakes master trail plan provides connectivity from “uptown” to the downtown area. This project placed approximately 0.75 miles of asphalt for the master trail plan.

DES provided site surveying and mapping services and used for engineering design. DES also prepared easement maps for the proposed trail improvements that was used by the TOPS. DES provided engineering design of the pedestrian shared use path. Design had to consider improvements within the CDOT right-of-way, improvements near wetlands and tying into existing electrical infrastructure for trail lighting. This project included concrete retaining walls, asphalt pavement, trail lighting and installation of accessible pedestrian system push buttons.

This project received federal funds administered through the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT). DES assisted the TOPS with engineering design and construction services to meet the requirements for federally funded projects.
